Generally, although not as popular as football, tennis is still incredibly popular when it comes to placing a sports bet. According to The London Economic, it’s one of the top 5 most popular sports to bet on in the UK – and because of this, there are always plenty of options available to you.

Often, you will find that online bookmakers are quite quiet when it comes to tennis offers, but when the time comes for Wimbledon, you will see all of the best bookmakers looking to tempt you over to their site with offers and winning odds – so this is when we reckon you should be making your move as tennis fans. However, it’s more than just the odds and offers we look at. We want our top tennis sites to offer the whole package. Here is a breakdown of what we look for in a top tennis betting site.

Safety, Security and Reputation

No matter how many offers and promotions a site is offering, the first thing we at MaxFreeBets will be looking at is making sure that the bookmaker is safe and secure. We will only recommend bookmakers that we trust implicitly. Firstly, and most importantly, it must be regulated by the UK Gambling Commission. this is one of the strictest regulatory bodies in the world that always looks after the players.

If it is regulated with others as well, such as the MGA, this is an added bonus. However,  we also like to see other trust logos attached. If a site is certified by IBAS, then we know that if there is a dispute, then it will be dealt with fairly by an impartial third party.

Also, companies such as ESSA make sure that any RNG games are completely fair and transparent. Finally, we like to see a site that is dedicated to responsible gambling. As such. we rate highly the bookmakers that have links to companies such as GamStop, GamCare and Begambleaware.

Promotions, Bonuses and Quality of Welcome Offers

Good free bets and promotions are very important to us at MaxFreeBets, but all year round – not just Wimbledon time. According to the ATP site, there are 64 tournaments in 31 countries -for men’s tennis and the WTA claims that there are currently 55 events plus the four grand slams across 29 countries. We want to see offers and promotions that cater for more than just one big event per year. When diving into a site’s promotions and offers, we will be looking at more than just the initial bonus amount, but also the size of the minimum deposit, wagering requirements, stake contribution, game weighting and much more.

Top Features

One thing we like when making bets on tennis is the variety of options and features available to make it a little more interesting. It’s very easy to bet on a match win or a tournament win, but sometimes variation is the key and we like to play around a little, which is why a host of good features will always take it higher up on the list. When betting on tennis, we do like to see options such as cash out or partial cash out – as games can turn quickly. Since we know how that there are so many customers that enjoy mobile betting, we are always on the lookout for the new best tennis betting app. We also like to see options such as edit bet and bet builder, so we can create the bets ourselves – and change them mid-match if need be! Acca insurance is also well received as accas can be pretty risky. What’s more, we really like the option of in-play betting with tennis – the next point is always an exciting bet… and the odds can be very nice as well!

What to Expect from the Best Tennis Betting Sites

The best tennis betting sites offer a variety of services designed to make your life, as a punter, easier. However, what we do know, is that they all have strengths and weaknesses – so what is the right one for you very much depends on what your priorities are and is a very personal thing. Obviously, you can expect any betting site – good or bad – to offer basic odds on Wimbledon. We’d be surprised if it didn’t. However, the bookmakers we have listed on our page go a step beyond. They have a site that is not only attractive but also easy to use. We also rate customer service as a very important factor. We want a site that is fun, easy, safe, secure and offers everything you need when betting on tennis.

Tennis Betting Sites

A Variety of Tennis Betting Markets

You will find any bookmaker out there can offer you odds on major events like Wimbledon or any match in it. All the grand slams will be well covered. However, fans of tennis will know that there is much more to the tennis season than that. We want to see a betting site that offers a huge selection of betting options on all different matches – big and small – all over the world. What’s more, we want to see more than just the typical popular tennis betting markets, such as match/tournament winner bets. We want to see them offer correct score, over/under sets, number of sets, tiebreakers, next point score, betting on aces, double faults etc. The more you can find crammed into an online sportsbook, the better.

Live / In-Play Betting

Live and In-Play betting is extremely popular when it comes to tennis betting. The matches can be long, so the addition of making in-play bets can add even more excitement to an already nail-biting game. When betting in-play, you can put money on what you think will happen next – whether it’s the next to win a bet, or the next to get a double fault/ace etc. You should also be able to check out the match stats from the betting platform, so you can see who’s on form and which way it’s going.

Live Streaming

If you like to bet in-play, then live streaming tennis takes it to the next level. This means that not only can you bet on the match as it takes place, but you can watch the match live as it happens. Generally, when there are grand slams, then you can watch them on live TV anyway, but when it comes to lesser-known matches and tournaments, then it can be hard to find out where to watch it. There are a number of great tennis live streaming sites, so all you will need to do is simply have money in your account, make a bet on the match and you can watch all the action unfold. This is the perfect addition to in-play betting!

A Range of Betting Features

Variety is the spice of life – and that is certainly the case when it comes to tennis betting. Good tennis bettors will bet on the sport regularly, so if you make the same bet all the time, it will get stale and boring. So, we like to see a number of betting features available. Most good online betting sites will offer cash out and partial cash out – which allows you to cut and run if your result is looking on shaky ground. However, other sites go a step further. Bet builder (or build a bet feature is becoming more common and is very popular as it allows you to create your own bet, built from everything you want to add to it, so you can make it as risky as you like! A newer feature some now offer is the ‘Edit Bet’ feature, which means you can amend your bet whenever you like – as long as it hasn’t yet been resulted. There are plenty of great features available… and the more on offer, the better!

Good Odds

This is pretty much the bread and butter of a good betting site. It can have all the great features it likes, but if it doesn’t offer competitive odds then you are better off going somewhere that does. Betting is all about getting value – and the best way to do that is by finding a value bet with good odds. Why would you go anywhere that wasn’t going to give you as much of a return for the same risk? It would be like doing exactly the same job for a company for less pay. It makes no sense. We also like to see betting companies offer enhanced odds for tennis tournaments and the best odds guaranteed for the cherry on the cake.

Promotions

As our name, MaxFreeBets, suggest – here, we are all about bonuses and promotions. So, we place a fair amount of importance on the quantity, quality and regularity of the bonuses on offer. These can make your tennis betting experience even better. If you do want to get your hands on a tennis betting related offer or promotion, then it’s a good idea to look for new betting sites when tournaments such as Wimbledon or the US Open are on – as there are more around then. You will find many welcome offers that will cater for the tournament. You could find enhanced odds on Djokovic beating an outsider – or a free matched bet on any of the games. You do need to check out the terms and conditions though, to make sure it’s all fair. Also, be sure you have any promo code needed and that you enter it correctly.

Payment Options

If you want to start your betting experience, then you want to be able to get going as quickly as possible. That means having plenty of good banking options – including debit cards as well as eWallet options like Neteller, Skrill and PayPal – the more the better. What’s more, all betting sites should be immediate, so you can make your tennis bet straight away. With betting, time is of the essence. We also like to see quick withdrawals and high withdrawal limits, so you can get to your winnings as soon as possible.

User Experience on Desktop and Mobile

No matter how good a site is – and no matter how much it offers; you will only enjoy your experience if you can find everything you want quickly and easily. What’s the point of offering features that are unusable? We like it to be really easy to find all the tennis markets. We want to see search features, clear menus, personalized features etc. What’s more, it should be as easy to use on mobile as desktop… easier if possible!

The Best Tennis Betting Sites for Odds

This isn’t just about offering good tennis betting odds when everyone is looking for the main events – this is about consistency. Offering good tennis betting odds at all times – for the biggest and the smallest matches. Many roll out great odds for Wimbledon, but we want good tennis betting odds 365 days a year.

We are generally impressed with online sports betting sites such as Mr Play and Bwin, which are generally two of the most generous sites out there when it comes to betting odds – even when it’s not one of the major tournaments like the big Grand Slams. They also offer a wide variety of betting options and a wide range of markets. These include both ante-post betting and in-play betting options, although not with live streaming at the moment. You can bet on things such as winners, points, sets, number of games, aces, tie breaks and more.

The Best for Live and In-Play Betting Features

In the grand scheme of betting, In-play live betting is relatively new on the scene. However, what is clear is that it has made a big impact since its arrival. It is now huge, and more people choose to bet in-play now than ever before. That is why we like a good tennis betting site to offer a variety of markets to bet on in-play. As the momentum of the game changes, it makes the ideal time to get those bets in and make the most of what is happening and profit from informed choices.

If you are watching a tennis match and can see that the tide is turning in favour of one player, you can bet on them to win the next point, next game or to break serve. You could also bet on them to hit an ace… or a double fault. As the tide changes, so do the odds, so get in quick!

Betting sites that are great for in-play tennis odds are sites such as 888sport, William Hill, Bet365 and Betiton. These are always worth a look if you are looking to add excitement to the match.

Live Streaming

Not as many sites offer live streaming as offer live betting. This is a more expensive service for the bookmaker and, as such, is often found on the bigger and more well-known sites. Check out our list of the top sites for live streaming. Sites such as Bet365 and Unibet often allow you to watch the match for as little as a £1 bet. If you’re betting on Wimbledon, then it’s not a big deal as most matches are shown. However, if you’re a more serious tennis bettor and bet on some of the less popular matches, it’s great to get a live stream to watch it in action – and make your in-play bets as it happens.

However, just because a site doesn’t offer live streaming, we won’t necessarily mark it down. Some of the best tennis sites are still up and coming and are great despite the lack of live streaming.

Tennis Sites that  Offer the Best Features

Cash Out

This is one of the most popular and common features offered by betting sites – and it’s rare to find a site that doesn’t offer cash out and partial cash out. For more information about cashout, read our special cash out betting guide.

When a bookmaker offers you a cash-out option, it means he is allowing you to take a cut of your winnings and walk away before the match comes to an end. Say, for example, you bet on Djokovic beating Nadal, he is 2 sets to 0 up, but Nadal starts making a comeback… it’s 2-1 and Nadal is leading in the 4th set… Djokovic is still winning, but you’re not sure as the momentum is in Nadal’s favour. You then see that there is a cash-out offer available to you. You could take this cash-out offer there and then and walk away as a winner.

However, you won’t win as much as if you hold out to the end. If you wait for the result, you could win £50, but they offer you a cashout of £25. The more likely your bet is of winning, the more cash out you’ll get. If you wait, and Nadal closes the gap even more, then you will see the cash-out value drop.

If you’re not sure about cash out, you could opt for partial cash out… where you cash out half of your bet for half the value – and leave the other half on to wait for the result – for half the winnings. This is always a good middle ground if you’re on the fence. Bet365 is currently well-known for generous cash-out, but all good betting sites offer the feature.

  • Open your bet(s)
  • Click on cash out
  • Choose between full or partial cash out

Partial Cash Out

As stated above, partial cash-out allows you to cash out a part of your bet. If you can’t decide whether to ride it out or take your winnings, this is the middle ground.

If you have a £20 bet on Djokovic to win, you may be in line for a £35 payout if it comes through. However, they might offer you a cash-out value of £25. You could decide to partially cash out. So, you take £10 partial cash out and get £12.50. You then leave the other £10 on the bet. If it wins, you get another £17.50 (so £30 in total). If it loses, you can walk away with your £12.50 win.

Bet Builder / Build-a-Bet

This feature is even newer on the scene and is offered under a number of different names. In fact, according to SBC news, it is now a “vital component in the sports betting ecosystem”. Bet builder, essentially means that you can create the exact bet that you want – so you can risk as much, or as little as you want… and get the return to reflect it. An example of this is if you want to bet on Serena Williams to beat Johanna Konta. However, the odds on Serena Williams don’t give away too much. You could up the stakes by building up your bet.

So, you create the following bet:

  • Serena Williams to win – 3/4 … then add
  • Serena Williams to win in 2 straight sets – 3/1
  • Serena Williams to win the first set 6-4 – 5/1
  • The second set to go into a tiebreak – 8/1

If you had just bet £10 on the first option, you would only get £17.50 return (£7.50 profit). However, by adding the other bets, your profit line goes from £7.50 to a massive £3770. However, you don’t need to be that adventurous, you can make it as risky or safe as you want.

The best betting sites for Bet Builder features when betting on tennis are Bet365, William Hill and Unibet.

Edit Bet

This is a very new feature and is certainly set to change the game when it comes to betting – you can amend your bet right up until the end! However, this is a very new feature and so far, not all bookmakers offer it. However, you can currently find it at Bet365.

It works as follows: Before your bet comes to a conclusion, you can opt to add or take away parts of your bet. You can even decide to up the stakes if it’s going well. You can edit your bet before it starts or even in the middle of the tennis match – as long as the result isn’t final. So, if you want to change from a triple bet to a double – or a double to a triple, you can before the end of the match.  You can also use it with an acca bet… if you are waiting for the last result to come in, the option is still there (as long as you have won all the other legs)

This is a feature that sits next to cash out as you will often get winnings equal to the cash-out value when you edit your bet. There are a couple of exceptions, however:

  • If you use edit bet to add another selection or else to increase your stake before that match has started and the odds are still the same.
  • If you alter your bet type and it is impossible to split the cashout equally across every part of your new bet

This feature is both new and exciting – and is likely to be more common in other bookies as it catches on.

Having the Best Promotions and Bonuses

At MaxFreeBets, we genuinely love good value betting offers and promotions. When they are done well, they add an extra layer to the overall experience. So, when we look at the best betting sites for tennis, the promotions certainly do come into play – for existing players as well as new players. Many betting sites offer tennis promotions for all the biggest events and competitions, but they get extra points if they offer tennis promos at other times of the year as well. Enhanced odds are always popular, especially if there’s a big favourite versus underdog match. Ladbrokes and Coral are well-known for offering a nice range of enhanced odds offers, as well as a bunch of bonus deposit offers.

As we said though, the promotions on offer need to be good value, so the ones that rank higher are the promotions with fair terms and conditions attached. Before you take up an offer, you should read the small print very carefully to avoid any nasty surprises. Some bonus offers and promotions will require customers to input a promo code or bonus code in order to claim. While others will not accept deposits made from certain payment methods/deposit methods.

The majority of promotions will require customers to make a minimum deposit in order to claim the bonus funds. We advise using the following deposit types; Debit cards & PayPal to claim promotions as e-wallets are often not accepted.

Tennis Betting Sites with the Best Customer Service

For whatever reason, things can and do go wrong at times. This is why we rate good customer service is essential. Even the best types of betting sites can have a hiccup. However, all is forgiven if they are quick to resolve. For that reason, we will only put betting sites with good customer service on our top lists.

The way we judge this is by the number of options they have of contacting. Ideally, there is a live chat as well as a phone number (free) and email. If it offers social media contact, all the better. We also like to see generous opening hours… 24 hours is even better! Finally, we judge them on the time it takes to respond and the quality of their help. We only rate them higher if we feel our query was dealt with quickly, professionally and was fully resolved at the end.

Different Types of Tennis Bets Available

Because tennis betting is so popular to bet on in the UK and around the world, you will find plenty of betting opportunities available to you.

From acca bets to Handicap bets, take a look below,

Here are some of the different types of bets to look out for:

Match Winner – This is the bet most tennis bettors opt for – who will be the winner of the tennis match when it comes to an end.

Handicap Bets – Handicap betting is great for the beginning of tournaments, where favourites will be taking on underdogs. It will not pay out a lot to bet on the favourite, so if you make use of handicap betting then you will be betting that they win by a number of games, which makes it a riskier bet and evens it up. This means you will get more for your money. So, if you bet on Federer -8, then if he wins 6-2, 6-2, 6-3 then he has won 18 games and his opponent 7… so by 11 games and your bet wins. However, if he wins 7-5, 7-6, 7-5, then he has won 21 games, his opponent 15… so by 6 games. Which means your bet loses.

Over/Under – Here you are betting on the number of games played rather than the winner. So, if you bet on over 25.5, then there would need to be at least 26 games played before the result. If you bet on under, then there would need to be 25 games or less played before the result

Tennis Accumulator Bets – Acca bets are a good way to up the risk factor, especially if there are a lot of favourites playing. However, it can pay off…. according to The Express, one punter bet on a tennis acca and won £186,000 – almost more than Nadal won that season! You can bet on 3+ matches together… and they will all need to win before you can claim the win. If one of the favourites falls, then you will lose your entire bet unless you have acca insurance.

Set Betting – Here you are betting on sets as opposed to the match. It could be who will win the set, the correct score of the set, the number of games in the set and more. There are numerous options.

For more information on how to bet on tennis, read our in-depth tennis betting guide.

Only Choosing Sites Regulated by the UKGC

At MaxFreeBets, we will only ever guide you towards sites that have been regulated by the UK Gambling Commission, which is one of the strictest regulatory bodies in the industry. You will therefore always be safe and secure as there are very heavy penalties awarded to betting sites that don’t comply with their rigorous guidelines. If it isn’t UKGC, we won’t recommend it and we would suggest you steer clear.
