- Level staking is simplest and keeps risk consistent bet-to-bet. Percentage staking scales with your bankroll, so a losing run automatically reduces your stakes. Kelly staking sizes the bet to your genuine edge, but needs an honest, disciplined probability estimate to be useful.
- What is half-Kelly and why use it?
- Full Kelly maximises long-run growth but with large short-term swings. Betting a fraction of full Kelly (e.g. half) reduces variance substantially while giving up relatively little long-run growth — the standard practical compromise.
