How We Review
MaxFreeBets exists to help UK bettors compare bookmakers and offers without wading through marketing spin. Here's exactly how a bookmaker or offer earns a place on this site.
Licensing comes first
Every bookmaker we list must hold a valid UK Gambling Commission licence number. This isn't optional — it's enforced at the data level, so an operator that is MGA-only or unlicensed in the UK simply cannot appear as a live listing on this site, however strong its offer looks.
Offers are verified, not assumed
Every offer we show carries a verification date and its significant terms. Offers that have gone stale, expired, or been paused by the bookmaker are excluded automatically rather than left live on the page — we don't rely on manually remembering to take offers down.
Ratings are never fabricated
Star ratings are only shown where there's a genuine editorial basis for one. Where we haven't yet formed a considered view on an operator, no rating is displayed at all — we'd rather show nothing than invent a number.
Written by named authors
Reviews and guides are written and reviewed by real, named members of our team, not published anonymously. You can see who wrote what on our authors page.
How we make money
We may earn a commission from the bookmakers we feature when you sign up through our links. This never changes our ratings or which offers we choose to show — commercial relationships and editorial judgement are kept separate.
