A Look at the Davis Cup
The end of the 2019 tennis season is fast approaching and followers of the sport find reasons to cheer difficult to come by. Major tournaments are now thin on the ground as we enter the final few weeks of the calendar.
The fixtures of note remaining include the ATP World Tour Finals, staged at the O2 Arena in London, WTA Houston, WTA Taipei, Fed Cup and the Davis Cup. The latter is the focus of our attentions in this preview as our team run the rule over the competitors. We look at the runners, current betting, promotions offered by major online bookmakers, ways to watch the tournament and even our unique betting tips and predictions.
Sports betting traders at all major firms have priced up their outright books, offering punters the chance to get in early and secure a nice price on their picks. The money men have also put in the work to make available a number of eye-catching specials. These include the winners of each of the groups, running from Group A through to Group E. This is great news for accumulator backers who can add a few selections together to create a nice priced multiple. Small stakes for a big pay-out is the aim there. There’s no lack of interest in this one.
Watch Live and Bet Live
You can also make your bets on each and every game, gambling on the winner, set betting, handicap, total games and plenty more besides. Many of the best pre-match markets remain live throughout the course of the match thanks to in-play betting. Odds are updated to reflect the score and the flow of the match. Bet before the opening serve or at any point of the play. Watch the live action closely and keep your eye out for a selection that is overpriced. It is then up to you to bet at the right time – when the odds are at their highest but before traders suspend the market.
Speaking of watching live tennis and you can follow the play on several major TV stations around the world. Bookmakers also provide an excellent live streaming service that can be viewed on your desktop computer at home or mobile device when on the move. This comes at no extra cost, as long as you have placed a bet on the match or have funds in your count to get involved in-play. There is now no reason to miss the play if you are signed up with modern and forward-thinking bookmakers, such as bet365, Ladbrokes, or William Hill. Each offers a welcome bonus to new customers registering and betting on the Davis Cup.
Davis Cup Promotions and Special Offers
As well as odds on the outright winner of the Davis Cup, specials and multiple markets on each and every match played during the competition, traders also offer a range of eye-catching promotions for both new and existing customers. These are designed to ensure the bookie stands out from the crowd in what has become an ultra-competitive market in recent years. It’s also great news for bettors, meaning we get more for our money and the value isn’t hard to find.
One of the standout promotions available on the 2019 Davis Cup is William Hill’s tennis insurance. This is an offer than really has to be seen to be believed. We suggest having this on side when placing your bets at the Davis Cup or, indeed, on any of the remaining tennis competitions this year.
William Hill’s tennis insurance is a promotion which applies to in-play bets and gives punters 10% of their losses back if your bet doesn’t go according to plan. This can be viewed in two ways, either money back and damage limitation if your bet goes down, or a small free bet to have another go in the next available match. Either way, it’s great news and amounts to the same thing – more cash in your pocket and it’s now harder than ever to lose your money on tennis betting.

Croatia Sure to be Popular
Croatia won the previous version of this tournament and backers will be delighted to see them carry a hefty price tag of 12/1 with bet365 to defend their crown. They certainly appear to be great value and there’s sure to be an increased level in interest on them winning amongst those looking for a bigger price off small stakes.
It came as no real surprise to see the money men throw the weight of their support behind the chances of Spain and the fact they are favourite will catch no one off guard. The Spaniards are a talented team and fully deserve their place at the head of the betting. If they play to the best of their abilities, they should win this title with a bit to spare. Which version of Spain will turn up? That’s a question you must ask yourself before parting with your hard-earned cash.
Do the favs merit a bet at cramped odds or is it worth taking a punt on an outsider with a bigger price attached but one good enough to challenge for the title? We’ll see in the week to come but we expect to see the likes of Australia, USA and Croatia popular on betting slips. What chance does Team GB have this year? Well, as you can see from the outright betting, they are a big price and we believe they deserve that. If Great Britain were to win the 2019 Davis Cup Finals, or even go close to winning it, that would rate as a massive upset, on both the odds and the formbook.
Value in the Group Betting
If you would prefer to avoid picking the outright champion, you can always play it safe by gambling on one of the group winner markets. The Group A betting has France as 4/5 favourites to finish in pole position, Ladbrokes offering best price on that one.
Group B is dominated by Spain at an eye-catching 6/5 with bet365. Germany are 5/6 top offer with Unibet in Group C, Australia nailed on 2/5 (bet365) in Group D and the Group E outright betting list has Great Britain as 1/2 jolly with Unibet, ahead of 9/2 (Ladbrokes) for Kazakhstan and 13/2 with the same firm for Netherlands to cause an upset.
