Dancing on Ice Betting – Odds and Predictions for 2020

As always, we’ve something to look forward to after the glow of Christmas has faded, with the return of Dancing on Ice – the 2020 edition. So, here we have this year’s Dancing on Ice betting tips, odds and predictions. As you would expect, we have the normal mix of reality stars, presenters and soap stars. As normal we have some that appear to have an advantage over others. However, every year there is a surprise package, and generally, there’s always a duff one that scrapes through to the later stages. So, who will take these titles this year – and who will take THE title?

After the controversy of last year, Jason Gardiner is no longer one of the judges. Instead, this year, the panel will be made up of Jane Torvill, Christopher Dean, Ashley Banjo and the new – and ever exuberant – John Barrowman… Fabulous. Sure, he’ll be much nicer than his predecessor. Will we have the off-screen drama of last year or will all the action take place on the ice? We’ll see…

Don’t forget to check out our list of free bets – most of them can be used for Dancing on Ice bets!

Dancing on Ice… Who Will Be the Winner?

As is the case every year, the level of talent is very varied. Obviously, the people with dancing backgrounds tend to have an advantage (i.e. last year’s winner, James Jordan). To fill his place, we have Diversity dancer Perri Kiely. He’ll also have the advantage of being besties with one of the judges. Although maybe this could make Ashley Banjo harsher… who knows? There are also unknown quantities such as Maura Higgins (who might get some dance help from Love Island beau Curtis Pritchard) Joe Swash and Libby Clegg. Then there will possibly be a few that will struggle, such as Trisha Goddard.

So, who will make the cut? Will there be another dancer pirouetting his way through the contest to the final? Will we have another Love Islander hitting a fine the ice dancing heights? We’re at the stage where anything is possible – and the odds on all are as good as they’ll ever be. So, let’s take a look at all of the entrants this year and sum up what we think the chances are of a win? Here are our Dancing on Ice betting tips, odds and predictions.

Perry Kiely

Perry Kiely burst onto our screens back in 2009 as the cute little dancer with the big hair in Diversity. He was thrown about all over the place as they danced their way to victor over firm favourite Susan Boyle. Since then he has grown into quite a tall young man and is one of the frontmen of the popular dance troupe. However, he appears to be rather sporty in other areas, having won the second series of Splash in 2017.

It cannot be denied that he has a great chance this series. Not only does he have a great amount of rhythm and dance talent, but having been thrown around and athletic, he is undoubtedly fearless as well – another advantage on the ice. However, the bookies also see this and have him marked as favourite. His first dance proved that he was every bit as good as expected. His best odds are 2/7 at bet365, and we wouldn’t want to bet against him at this point.

Maura Higgins

Wes Nelson flew the flag for Love Island last year. His year, it’s been flown by Maura Higgins, the Irish beauty who stole our hearts in Love Island, with lots of cheeky banter and bad luck in love. However, she eventually found love with dancer Curtis Pritchard – who seems to be one of the few couples still together from this season. Allegedly, Amber Gill, the winner, was supposed to take part, but for unknown reasons, Maura has stepped in – as she seems to have had more success post-show.

Maura’s skills are unknown at this point. We don’t know how she is on the ice or her dance skills. However, she has Curtis to help her with the moves. What we do know though, is that she’s a girl with a lot of craic and will be ready to give it a go. She’s also bound to be popular with the younger audience, so we reckon that she’ll make it through to the later stages of the competition. Currently, the best odds for Maura are 25/1 at Bet365.

Joe Swash

Our first sighting of Swash was in popular soap EastEnders. However, since he left, he’s been a television favourite. After ‘Enders, he stole our hearts in the jungle as he swung his way to victory to become the King of the Jungle in 2008. After his victory, he then went on to present the I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here NOW! / Extra Camp show until he finally left the fold in 2019. He’s also known for being in a relationship with Stacey Solomon, star of Loose Women and ex – X Factor contestant.

However, when it comes to talent or potential at ice skating, it’s difficult to know. He’s been a soap actor, which could mean training at a performing academy school – but we don’t know. Ho doesn’t necessarily come across as a graceful ice dancer but looks can be deceiving. Furthermore, we know he’s a cheeky chap and popular with the audience, which can get you quite a long way on its own! He made it comfortably through his first dance. As such, he’s been given best odds of 33/1 at Betfred.

Ian H Watkins

Ex Step member, Ian H Watkins has undoubtedly got a background in performing, which will always come in handy. However, he’s not been at it for a while, so who knows how he’ll be performing now? Will age have slowed him down? Steps members are also very popular and have plenty of support from ex-steppers!

However, the biggest point of interest here is that he will be the first celebrity on this show – or any other show, to be in a same-sex partnership. He will be pairing with Matt Evans, so this is pretty groundbreaking. How it will affect their performance, who knows? Obviously, things like lifting and tricks might be trickier, so it will be interesting to see where it goes – and how the audience will react. Hopefully, they will have some success and that will lead to more couples and shows following suit in the future. This one could be groundbreaking if it works. The first week saw him bring tears to the eyes of the judges! ‘H’ has been given best odds of 11/2 at Coral.
