Sporting Index is a unique spread betting platform in its own right, it’s not quite a sportsbook and it’s certainly not an exchange. Instead, you will be laying a spread bet, a term that is common in American betting. New customers signing up to Sporting Index are able to claim £100 in free bets at this site!

Back in 1992, a specialist in the spread betting industry was conceived and this was in the form of Sporting Index. Since then, they now employ more than 225 members of staff and are owned by CEO Simon Trim. Their headquarters can be located in London, UK and it wasn’t until July 2001 that their website was launched.

Customers of Sporting Index will have exclusive access to their sportsbook as well as their casino and all of this can be accessed from just one account, so if you don’t usually expand your interests to other sides of the spectrum, will Sporting Index be the push in the right direction you always needed?

Sign Up Offer & Free Bets

Sporting Index has included an interesting promotion to their portfolio and to redeem this, all you need to do is open a new account and they will credit it with £100 of non-withdrawable funds that you have 7 days to play around with. At the end of the period, they will allow you to withdraw any surplus you have on your account from the £100. This is a slightly different bonus than we are used to dealing with, however, free stuff is always a good thing and if you do end up losing it all, you are no worse off.

Another fantastic addition from Sporting Index is your ability to earn money by referring a friend or friends, this could lead up to your potential taking home £1000. Once the people you have referred make 3 individual risk-free bets of £20, you can speak to their customer support team and they will credit your account with £100. This can be done a maximum of 10 times, equalling a juicy £1000 total.

Whether you are looking to claim the welcome bonus or any other promotion found on the Sporting Index site, you should always take the time to read the terms and conditions, as these stipulate important information regarding wagering requirements, minimum stakes, qualifying deposits, initial stakes and the range of markets bets can be placed on.

Website – Layout & Interface

The layout of Sporting Index isn’t a million miles away from a regular sports betting site, although they have made a few changes that we are going to cover. Firstly, we were impressed with their overall colour scheme. They have gone with an off-white background which feels bright and refreshing, they have selected a dark navy header for the different sections of the site and you can distinguish between the different products easily.

In the top left-hand corner, you will notice Sporting Index’s brand logo, on the right of this is where customers can sign in and if you’re new create an account.

So, here is where Sporting Index does things slightly differently, instead of having their sports featured down the left-hand side of the page. They have included their A-Z list of different sports as a header that stretches horizontally across the homepage. Here you can also find a link to their casino and spread games, which can all be accessed from one account and this is definitely a nice touch.

On the right side of the homepage, customers can find their bet slip. This updates as you progressively add bets to it, whilst working out any winnings you might receive. Underneath the bet slip is a small taster of what their Casino is offering as a promotion and directly opposite is where you can access, both, your favourites tab as well as any sports or markets that you have recently viewed.

At the very bottom of the page, you can find some useful information, such as a contact us section, FAQs, privacy policy and terms and conditions, which we recommend you read prior to joining.

Sports Betting Markets

Becoming a member of Sporting Index has a few great things in store for you and one of these is their expansive range of different sporting spread betting markets. Customers can bet on anything from Tennis, Weekend Specials, Rugby Union, Politics, Rugby League, Aussie Rules, Football, Baseball, Gaelic Football, Basketball, Golf, Boxing, Hurling, Cricket, American Football, Ice Hockey, Cycling and Motor Racing. As you can see from the list above, Sporting Index has a range of sports available which range from popular sports to more obscure events like Politics betting.

We investigated their available betting markets and were pleasantly surprised, as they had plenty of diversity thrown in there. Football fans will have access to all of the good stuff that we know and love, ranging from Bookings, Total Goals, Shirt Numbers, Corners, Total Goal Minutes, Goal Rush, Handicaps, Team Performances, Goals x Corners, 1st/2nd Half Goals and many more. Sporting Index not only offers the unique form of ‘Spread’ betting, but also a variety of other types of betting too.

In-Play Betting

If you are looking for a change from the norm of placing pre-event bets, then you will love the selection of in-play betting markets that are available on sporting Index. There are plenty of different sporting markets to sink your teeth into at Sporting Index and customers can enjoy betting at the most cutting edge moments of Football, Rugby Union, Greyhound racing, Horse Racing betting, Volleyball, Handball, Tennis, American sports and many more.

They also have some of the best betting markets we have seen and some of the bigger, more high profile games and matches have more than 185 different markets. For football, these include Total Goals, Corners, Bookings, Goal Rush, Total Goal Minutes, Player Goal Minutes, Correct Score, Correct Score & Double Result, Team Performance, Shirt Numbers, Handicaps and it does depend on which game you are browsing as there could be even more.

Mobile & Tablet Gaming

There isn’t currently a downloadable mobile betting application for Sporting Index, however, they have fully optimised their website to perform as well as the desktop version, from your mobile. So, just head over to Sporting Index from your portable devices’ browser and you can get your hands on all of the great stuff you can find from your PC, including promotions and their in-play console.

Click here for more betting apps

Mobile apps offer a level on convenience that can not be found in desktop sites, as mobile apps can be taken everywhere you wish to go via your mobile device. With the HTML5 technology being used to develop these mobile apps, they run very smoothly on mobile devices and customers should never experience any game lag.

Payment Methods

Customers at Sporting Index will have a solid variety of different methods at their disposal, which you can use to both credit and withdraw funds from your account. So if you use Visa, Maestro, MasterCard, Skrill, Neteller, and Visa Electron, all of these are accepted.

If you are concerned about long withdrawal times, we definitely recommend you choose to withdraw your money via e-wallets as you could be in possession of your money within 24 hours and this isn’t only unique to Sporting Index. Cards and banking transactions take longer for the funds to clear and for you to receive them, so be prepared to wait between 3-5 working days.

There are few limitations when it comes to depositing and withdrawing funds from your Sporting Index account. Whether you want to use debit cards, cheque, Apple pay or various e-wallets you can count on a quick and secure process. Users can deposit as little as £5 into their account, while maximum withdrawal and deposit amounts vary between payment options.

When considering the time it takes for withdrawals to complete some payment methods are better than others. For example, e-wallets have typically the shortest withdrawal times of any payment method, with times taking anywhere from 24 to 48 hours. Debit cards on the other hand can take anywhere from 2-5 business days.

Safety & Security

As gamers yourselves, you will understand that you can never completely enjoy a gaming experience if you are not 100% certain of the security of your personal details. Understandably, customers should be ensured that they are completely safe and secure when using a gaming platform, as they are wagering their hard-earned cash without the guarantee of winning.

Players from the United Kingdom have no need to worry about the security of the Sporting Index site, as they hold the appropriate gaming license with the UK Gambling Commission(UKGC). The UKGC is considered the toughest/strictest regulatory body that is currently around, meaning they set tough guidelines that are not easy to meet.

Part of the criteria set by the UKGC is to ensure that sites are promoting safe and responsible gambling, which is something that Sporting Index does. Sporting Index actually works with the following two organisations – GamCare & GamStop – who aim to promote safe and responsible gaming.

Customer Support

The time is bound to arise when you as a customer encounter some sort of problem when using Sporting Index. When this happens, you should find multiple avenues of customer service available to help resolve the problem in a quick fashion. Fortunately, Sporting Index has taken the time to provide its customer base with plenty of helpful customer support options.

We were impressed with the support staff at Sporting Index and if you do ever find yourself in a position where you need to speak to a member of the team, you can do so via live chat, email or phone. The live chat service promises the quickest response times while using email will see responses within a 24-hour period. All of these are listed on the website and the only downside is that they don’t operate on a 24/7 basis, so if you do need to get in touch you will need to do so between 08:00 and 23:00. Alternatively, there is also an in-depth FAQ that can be referred to, should you need it.

Our Sporting Index Summary

The guys at Sporting Index are definitely on the right track and have produced a nice little surprise of a bookmaker, that delivers in nearly all aspects. They have a great list of sporting markets and their in-play betting console is one of the better ones we have used. The range of betting options available to Sporting Index customers is more than enough and will certainly impress those spread betting fans.

We would like to see them add some more promotions to their artillery as this is definitely something that customers consider before signing up but there are some decent things along the way that you can earn whilst playing. They could look at increasing their support hours to provide more assistant to the night owls who like to play during the night and somewhere down the line we would love to see the addition of a mobile application but for now, we are duly impressed. If you are looking for a betting site that offers a unique style of betting, then Sporting Index is a great choice.
