Hopa Review & Free Bet

About Hopa

Hopa may not be considered to be one of the more famous sportsbook betting companies compared to other major betting sites, and, of course, they have much work to do if they are to secure a healthy share of a lucrative market, but they seem to be determined and ambitious.

Hopa has been around since 2005 and was originally founded by Aspire Global – a very well known name in the industry. It has its headquarters based in Malta and offers not just sports, but also casino and scratchcards as well if you are looking for a change.

We want modern websites, fast mobile apps, lots of markets, in-play betting, cash out, excellent customer services, up-to-date banking options and plenty more besides. So, how does Hopa measure up to our expectations and how does it fair when put against the leading names in the betting arena? Read our Hopa review in full.

Overview of our Experience at Hopa?

In all, when trying out the site, we had a very positive experience. The site looked really nice and was easy to sign up to – so it was a good first impressions. When looking around the site, we found pretty much everything we needed in terms of sports and markets. We also saw some nice promotions and offers. Overall, the site was smart, quick and reliable.

However, one feature that appears to be lacking from the Hopa site is a sports live streaming site, allowing customers to follow horse racing and sports live on an HD quality stream. This is available at some of the top names of sports betting and this is something Hopa must aim to cover if they are keen on becoming a front-runner. It doesn’t appeal to some backers, however.

The Hopa Welcome Offer

Hopa is offering new customers a £10 free bet when you register and join the site. Here’s how to grab yours now…

  • Deposit £10 to your account
  • Bet on a sportsbook market at odds of evens or better
  • When that bet has been settled, a £10 free bet will be added to your account

Compared to other welcome offers and free bets, this is rather standard.

There are T&Cs attached as follows: New customers only. Max one £10 free bet. Qualifying bets must be placed at odds of 2.00 (1/1) or greater. Paid as bonus token with min 4/5 odds required. Skrill, Neteller and PayPal not eligible. T&Cs Apply. 18+

Hopa Licensing, Security andSafety

This is one of the most important areas of the review –  and we have to ensure that Hopa is licensed and regulated by the United Kingdom Gambling Commission. We would stress that, no matter which online bookie you are considering joining, the first thing you should check for is the UK Gambling Commission logo is present. They work closely with the United Kingdom Gambling Commission and that means it is a company you can trust. The reason for that is the UKGC only work with sportsbook betting sites that share their passion for fairness, transparency and customer service.

While we are looking at security and protection, it’s worth noting Hopa runs the latest Secure Socket Layer technology and encryption service. These measures are in place to ensure you can enjoy a sportsbook bet with the complete peace of mind that comes with being covered from every angle. The encryption service ensures your personal details, such as your bank account payment numbers are never seen by another person, including the Hopa staff.

This measure is why, when paying for bets and making transactions you will notice many of your digits are scrambled and covered by a series of XXXX with only the last four on show. There’s also a modern firewall technology in place which acts as another safeguard against cyberattacks. Be sure to create a unique username and password to further protect your account. Also, the site is certified by iTechLabs so all the technology used is safe transparent.

The site is also linked to a number of responsible gambling sites to help you if you do find yourself having any issues with controlling your gambling. These include GamCare and Gamblers Anonymous.

The Sports/Markets Available at Hopa

You will be impressed by the large number of sports offered by Hopa as they aim to cover everything, from the most popular to the more niche markets. The emphasis is placed on major sports which are popular in the UK and Europe. This includes football, horse racing, greyhounds, tennis and boxing. There’s also basketball, rugby and tennis to choose from. If you are after something a little different you can back your predictions with hard cash on the outcome of politics, reality TV and even awards, including Sports Personality of the Year. Below you’ll find a list of some of the sports you can expect to find after signing up to Hopa. These are all open to members looking to use their welcome bonuses, promotions and free bets…

A full list of sports is as follows:

FootballBasketballAmerican FootballTennis
Ice HockeyCricketBaseballHandball
GolfRugby League / UnionSnookerPool
Motor RacingDartsCyclingSpeedway
VolleyballBoxingFloorballFutsal
Table TennisWinter SportsWater PoloBadminton

GreyhoundsGaelic FootballGaelic HurlingPolitics

If you were a fan of the vast number of sports available to bet on, be prepared to be blown away by the markets on each. You can look ahead and bet on the outright winner of major competitions, tournaments, races and fights. Predict the Premier League champion, next world heavyweight boxing champion, winner of the next Wimbledon men and women or the Grand National winner. The earlier you get your cash down the better price you should receive.

Using football as our example here and as well as outright betting you will also find match betting on fixtures taking place today, tomorrow and in the days to come. Each game from the top leagues, such as Premier League, Scottish Premiership, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, MLS, Champions League and World Cup. Each game has over 100 markets attached.

Hopa Live Streaming/In-Play Betting

As mentioned, Hopa doesn’t currently offer a live streaming service and this knocks a point off their overall score, but it won’t matter to many backers who prefer to use a betting account for placing bets and watch their live sport on TV. What Hopa does have, however, is a packed in-play betting section. This can be found listed on the homepage or on the in-play stage.

The list is split up into different sports and organised into time order, starting with the match that started earliest. Most of the original betting markets that were offered before the start remain live until the final whistle, with the odds and handicap lines, moved to keep pace with the score and flow of the match. For example, a -1 handicap will become -2 when one side takes the lead and the odds will be reduced on the club who have scored more goals. The market that was first goal scorer before kick-off becomes next goal scorer and will be live and ready to bet on until the final whistle. The page lets you see exactly what is going on in the match – such as possession percentage etc. so you have all the latest information to make an informed bet.

Cash-Out Betting

Cash-out is now available at most leading bookmakers and Hopa is no different. When you place a sports bet you will notice a cash-out value added to your slip. This number will rise and fall depending on how well your bet is doing and how long there is left of the match. This is a relatively generous cash out site when it comes to top league football matches.

Hopa Payment Methods

As you will see from the list below there are a few different options open to Hopa members when it comes to paying for their bets. There is something there to suit all types of punters.  Here is a list of the payment options currently available to Hopa users…

  • Debit card
  • Bank transfer
  • Sofort
  • Trustly
  • Skrill
  • Skrill 1 tap
  • Neteller
  • Ecopayz
  • Paypal
  • Giropay
  • Interac
  • Easy EFT
  • Euteller
  • Zimpler
  • EPS
  • Wire transfer
  • Paysafecard
  • Instadebit

We must say we were thoroughly impressed by the payment options at Hopa as they have far more options than most of their competitors and easily match the leading players in the sports betting industry.

In most cases, the transfer is instant and that is important. When betting, you want to transfer cash and have it available to bet within a matter of seconds. There should be no delay. All options mentioned above are instant apart from Wire Transfer which takes between six and eight days and Interac which could take up to 24 hours but it often much quicker. Sterling and Euros are the available currencies on most. Most have a minimum deposit of £10.

Withdrawals

There are just as many options open to customers looking to get money out of their account as those wishing to deposit. The list below includes all. Transfer times vary, depending on the option you choose with debit card withdrawals advertised as the standard 3-5 working days. A new rule change to take effect in the online gambling industry is all winnings must be paid back to the source.

What that means is if you paid for a bet with your debit card, any winnings achieved from that trade must be returned to your debit card. So, you can’t pay for your bet by debit card and ask for the money to be sent to PayPal. That used to be possible, but not anymore.

The reason for that is to stop money laundering and the same rule is now in place at every licensed bookmaker.

Hopa Customer Service

If you ever require the assistance of the Hopa customer service team you’ll be glad to learn they are very easy to get in contact with. You can use the fast and efficient live chat feature which serves as the quickest way to get your point across. Simply type your question into the conversation box and a member of the crew will reply through the same method as soon as possible. This usually takes just a few minutes. However, it isn’t 24 hours and is available between 6am to 11pm. There is also an email address if your query isn’t as urgent –  [email protected]. Currently, there is no phone number available.

The frequently asked questions page is available to those who would prefer to help themselves, perhaps if they don’t have the time in their daily schedule to converse with customer services, wait in a queue and then talk over their problem.

The Layout of the Hopa Betting Site

You’ll notice on your first visit to the Hopa site that it is incredibly user-friendly and basic. That’s not to say it isn’t modern and stylish. For a sports betting site to do its job it needs to be as easy to navigate as possible. You want to be on there for the shortest possible time, finding your intended bet quickly and without fuss. Hopa delivers on all fronts here.

There are quick links at the top of the page to live casino, casino, scratchcards, virtual sports and sport. At the centre on the page you can see all of today’s events and the scrollable menu allows you to pick the most popular sports. However, you can find all of the sports available on the left hand side menu as well as the popular leagues and markets. There is also a navigation bar as well – so finding our way around was simple and quick.

Hopa Mobile App

We are fast approaching a time in sports betting where more bets will be placed on a mobile app than desktop computers. The Hopa app has all the fixtures and fittings of the full site but with the added benefit of being able to gamble on the go. The Hopa app is ready to go when you are. Simply pull out your device, Hopa login and start betting on your favourite sports. The app works particularly well alongside live sports. You can also access all areas of the site including the Hopa customer support and betting promotions. You can also open a Hopa account as quickly and easily as you can on desktop.

Hopa Casino

As well as an action-packed sportsbook tab, Hopa also boasts a casino section of the site which can be accessed by any member. The great news is you don’t need to open another count to switch from sports to casino. Simply click the tab and start betting. You can even take your funds with you, transferring cash between sports and casino.

What’s worth mentioning here, however, is that you don’t need to re-register or set up a new account. There is also a casino welcome bonus when first depositing and playing on that section of the site. Simply move over, make a deposit, place a bet and you can expect a welcome bonus to be added to your site. At present, the Hopa casino bonus is up to a £500 free bet and 100 free spins. That’s a matched bet, so whatever you deposit and bet on your first casino visit, the marketing team will match as a free bet, up to the value of £500.

There are hundreds of games – slots, table games and even a live casino with live dealers to help you experience the thrill of casino from the comfort of your living room.
